| Originally, the lead role was to be played by Luis Ariaga, lead singer of Little Luis y Los Wild Teens, whom director Ian Jones had met in jail. A last minute emergency prevented Luis from making it to the shoot, so Ian decided to play the role himself.

| Just a few months prior to production, two men attacked William "The Messiah" Welch, who played the Thug, in his apartment and cut off his thumb with a pair of gardening shears. The attackers are still at large. For sketches of the attackers or to report a tip in relation to this case, please visit the America's Most Wanted website.

In the background of the first post office box scene, the two men walking by snuggling are producer Kai Van Der Putten and set supervisor Gary Yap. Gary improvised a bit and grabbed Kai’s butt without telling Kai in advance. Kai, like the professional that he is, remained in character.

| Following the completion of principal photography for PO BOX, Ian Jones and Kai Van Der Putten collaborated on another short film project called SOUND HAS SPEED. This proved to be a bad omen. During post-production, the sound reels for PO BOX were, at various times, either thought to be stolen, lost, erased or incompatible with the film format. Desperate, at one point, there was even talk of releasing it as a silent film or dubbing it in German with English subtitles. |
